Some 3D prints

Since the first Prusa nameplate print, I’ve been dabbling in a lot experiments. There has been a lot of headache, tweaking and failures.
Through these experiences, I’m now more comfortable using my Prusa MK3S+.

I bought and tested a variety of different filaments. I experimented with both PLA and PETG.

The Lucky 13 model was a bit tricky. It required more precision to print the smaller parts and make them fit to form a posable action figure.
I learned that PETG is a better material, due to its flexibility vs the brittleness of PLA.

After figuring out the smaller Lucky13 figure, I decided to print a larger version. The larger version was very successful, with the parts fitting together correctly and feeling robust. I think it may have taken around 4 days to print out all the parts.

After winning the chess piece challenge, I was given the honor of picking the next week’s topic. I was sketching exploded views for my freelance work and decided it would be an appropriate topic. This gave me an excuse to take apart an old remote I had lying around and sketch it. It was an interesting challenge that brought back memories of viscom from my days at CIA. Once again, I really enjoyed trying to create a clean sketch with pen and markers.

I was very pleased with how the Epyon model turned out. It was a very great experience from start to final detailing. For Christmas this year, I decided to get myself a Gundam Gouf. It made an appearance in the original Gundam series, and then another appearance in “The 08th MS Team”. Heres a link to see it in action.

The design of this Gouf is much more utilitarian and brutal than the Epyon. From a modeling perspective, this Gouf has a lot of potential in material depiction and wear. I loved depicting worn paint and gunmetal.

After making this model, I now want to make a Zaku with a camoflauge paint scheme. It’ll have to wait for later.
