Tetris Pixel Pocket Player

The Tetris Pixel Pocket player is the smallest handheld gaming device that My Arcade offers. This keychain gaming device is pocket sized and can be attached to your backpack or clothing. It has an 8-bit 1.8” full color screen and 10 bonus games in addition to Tetris. Its pretty much Tetris on the go!

The Pixel Pocket joins the My Arcade line of products that feature Tetris. This includes the MicroPlayer Pro, Pocket Player Pro, GoGamer and GamerV.

The project started with initial CAD from the factory for a form factor utilizing a 1.5” screen

I explored some styling options around the 1.5” screen form factor. One idea was to make the keychain player more organic,
while the other direction matched the Pocket Player Pro aesthetic.

Tetris had some hardware requirements. The keychain player had to have a 1.8” screen. The horizontal form factor is more comfortable to use,
and can handle more button configurations. With the new angular aesthetic, the keychain player became the Pixel Pocket Player.
I also explored different graphic options to match the Tetris Pocket Player Pro.

The Tetris licensors responded more to the white/blue/cyan color scheme. I explored different color options, and ways to incorporate the Tetris maze graphic.

The final design approved by Tetris is simple and clean looking, with an emphasis on white. The CMF matches the rest of My Arcade’s Tetris lineup.
